Military Recruits Thousands More Warbots for New Unmanned Surge
Wired (05/08) Shachtman, Noah

The U.S. Army has awarded Foster-Miller a five-year contract worth up to $400 million to provide between 2,000 and 4,000 Talon-bomb handling robots as well as spare parts. Currently, 2,000 Talons are in use in Afghanistan and Iraq, helping soldiers to locate and dispose of improvised explosives. In December, rival iRobot won a contract worth up to $286 million to provide 3,000 military robots to the U.S. Army.
