I'm starting to layout the keel of my eskybot entry.

I reserve the right to change anything at anytime without notice. :)

Hehe, I have been eyeing our vacuum cleaner for use as an awesome robot shell… Not sure if my girlfriend would understand if it suddenly went missing though :)

It would be a shame if the motor… just stopped working… :)

Even dawdling through the appliance section at the local K-Mart these days is inspiring. :)

Even toasters and electric jugs look good as bodies.

In the Bioloid kit they essentially use a 2-part box as the upper body, with servos left and right as the shoulder joints. (The CM-5 controller lives in another box, and is screwed to the back of this "upper chest box").

All sorts of everyday things can substitute for these bits, and even a toaster at $15 aud is a pretty cheap source for a combo metal/injection moulded box.

And don't get me started on $2 stores. :)
