Well it's been pretty quiet around here and I'm keen to hear what projects people have been working on. Being a newbie I'm just moving up from basic B.E.A.M robotics to using an Arduino which a few members here were helpful enough to get me onto. Cheers for that by the way! So what is everyone else up to at the moment? Any projects your working on?

A new power supply for my robot Renoster. Current incarnation has a 50A current sensor (I know overkill), voltage divider, outputs for raw pass through, 5V, and 3.3V. I am toying with adding a built in charger. Once completed my robot should know what its power consumption is, and calculate an estimated runtime left based on current activity.

Only thing holding the charger back is having to choose whether I will use LiPo’s or stay with NiHM batteries. I will probably end up designing the charger as a sort of backpack to the PSU.

What does your robot Renoster look like? Any pictures we can see? What is it primarily used for? Good idea with a power meter, be nice to have a recharging dock for it drive back to when needed.

Haha bit of a 20 question there for a moment. Just interested in what others are working on. I'm currently building another little line follower but this time with a motor from a cellphone (these things are tiny!) About 1cm long and 4mm wide. Im trying to make it as small as possible, just abit of fun as I love lil robots :P

At the moment I am actually working on porting ausrobotics to webfaction to try to speed it up. Shouldn't be too much of a mission hopefully!

Robotics-wise the last thing I was working on was integrating a new Maxbotix ultrasonic sensor and a xbee wireless module into my little test robot. It all ended up working pretty well but I have stopped working on it for a bit to work on some other projects.

I *still* need to import Kym's old videos into the new(ish) site (sorry Kym!). He had a good vid of a tiny remote control bot he built that you would probably be interested in seeing.

I'll post it asap.

Back from holiday, not much happening here by the looks of things…

Quinn, Renoster is an outdoor exploration robot. For more information take a look at http://www.auv.co.za/Renoster

Just as the bot the website is still under construction :-)
