Interesting robot design article on this weeks Science Show

Hi Everyone,
An article on The Science Show (Radio National, Australia) this week should be interesting to you all. Taking stock of the state of home robotics. Particularly good was the bit about using very low quality robotic components and balancing the performance out with computation.

Apparently some knuckle-dragger is using this post as a place to hang their unauthorised drug ads.
I have a script that will delete anything unwanted within 15 mins, but if the BB s/w has something to delete items containing relevant URL’s (e.g. "facebox.com") then all the better.
Yeah I am trying to find a good spam system for Drupal but once again it seems to be lacking for some reason.
Spam is an old problem.
Okey dokey. The Akismet anti-spam module is now on the case and hopefully pwning knuckle-draggers…
0xffelent!
I dredged through the "unpblished" items in the queue and even managed to find a few things I hadn’t seen before.
I’ll turn my remote script off.
OK. I’ve hooked in a simple AI to clean up the moderator queue for AUSROBOTICS every couple hrs.
The s/w is a simple classifier with its "false hit" value set as low as possible.
With around 200 junk posts to learn from, it’s managed to select as "spam" 100% of the drug ads and recover as "ham" 1 legitimate comment, so I’m satisfied it "mostly works".
I’m impressed with the Akismet interface — even as used by remote ‘bots. :)
Thanks again for pointing it out, ash. I’ll be adding it to a couple of my own sites.
Cool, thanks for that Kym. I am checking throughout the day usually but it keeps piling up
It’s funny seeing the amount of stuff we are getting hit with every hour. I think the % of spam vs. real emails was above 90% in 2007!
Think, all of those datacentres and all of those servers all sending crap to each other. The mind boggles.
I noticed there were only 5 knuckle-dragging penis ads to purge from the queue today.
Maybe we’ve won the war against porn! ;)
