Sounds like you are making some good progress on the software side despite the hardware and ordering issues.

Interfacing with the real world. It's the main draw card and main point of weakness in robotics. What do you mean the outcome isn't always repeatable? What do you mean the environment has changed? What do you mean the batteries are low and now nothing works properly? hehe

I think the club is definitely going to need at least one biped to become official. I am looking forward to seeing what you get the Robotis stuff to do. They have a dog in that as well as far as I remember.

Actually speaking of Robotis related stuff, did you see that wiki link I put into the knowledge base? One of the projects was a dino raptor that looked pretty impressive.

Here's the link again: http://www.bioloid.info/

Oh, yes. There's going to be at least 1 biped. :)

If you decide to get some kind of premises (e.g. renting a small scouthall on a Sat afternoon -- conditions apply! -- is the way some of the wifi and electric car clubs I infrequently attend do it) we might even have some live risk-falling-in-a-heap demos.

And yes -- that repeatability thing is going to be a problem for non-freedback situations. I'm prepared to change my mind about it not being a problem for 4-wire servos when I finally get some. :)

I haven't seen the raptorbot. I'm still getting over ogre3d. I'll check out the .info link now.

Cheers, and thanks again for setting this thing up.

Hunted around and found the avi files of the first steps.

Nice!

Glad I worked on that see-saw toybot. I can appreciate how neat the s/w on that thing is. :)

Hehe, thanks for the great blog posts!

I've been pleasantly suprised how well the site has been coming together over the last weeks.

Today it is a website. Tomorrow our Prolog-based-Warplan-planner-driven-giant-mechanoid-dogs will be storming the White House! (or something - don't let the FBI hear that one or I might get a visit from them )

Hey good idea about the scout hall. My next question on the forum was going to be about meeting locations and a schedule. I'll add it to the list.
