IR sensors non-functioning
After carefully hacking at those IR sensors to turn them analog, testing showed neither worked.
Turned out on one of them I’d accidentually added a too-large solder blob on that capacity terminal, shorting the cap to ground.
On the other sensor there is no obvious sign of injury, so maybe one of the joints I made is cold-soldered or otherwise non-functioning. Of course, the sensor itself could have been damaged by the soldering effort, or been cactus to start with.
Sigh…
The only progress on in the past 24 hrs has been to make up all the wire harnessing. Some of it has actually been put in place and the appropriate hot glue drizzled various places to make sure things don’t come look. It also has the benefit of hiding some of my very bad soldering. :}
On the plus side (see forum topic "vision 101 #3"), my vision s/w is starting to produce useful results. It might even be fully automatic by the end of the month. ![]()
