Problems with the Paypal

After using Paypal and eBay and such for quite a few years now, things are starting to turn for the worse.

I guess this all turns on classical ideas like "complex systems end up falling in a heap or becoming unusable" that we can all trace to Kelvin and physics in general. I condemn them all! :)

I’ve been waiting a while for a couple of Robitis kits, and had thought at least the monetary and shipping-address requirements were all out of the way at least 1 wk ago, but now "the company" has been asking for faxes of old bank statements and other financial details. Very odd! And they’re based in Canada, not Nigeria, too!

I’m champing at the bit — situation normal, for me, so I won’t mention this again – to get my mits on these Korean kits. Just the pix of the doggie (see prev blog entry) were enough to get my mouth watering. (I wonder what it tastes like?) :)

As in many of these things, the kit centres around a little block containing a reasonable controller, plus a bunch of Leggo-like bits to allow the construction of upto 6 limbs that hang off the controller. The limbs can contain dozens of servos due to their "serial bus" (some kind of simplified CAN I presume).

The servos are all 4-wire devices and can return position, voltage and temp info as well as move reasonably fast. :)

I’ve appended a couple more vids from their site.

(The "Probing Robot" has obvious Eski-tending  applications).

    Awesome :)

I have seen a lot of the robotis vids but none of the versions you have posted so far. That probing robot is a new one as well. My dream is to build something that can fetch me beer from a fridge or esky and deliver it to wherever I am in the house.

I personally feel that once that task has been mastered my job here is done hehe :)

(And I have to say that I totally respect the beer throwing robot that has already been developed – love the loading mechanism – but think of the amount of shakage of the beers as they are caught not to mention the danger of trying to catch a robot launched beverage after about 6 beers! :)
