2 more kits turned up; I haven’t had a chance to do anything except open them boxes and check there are some parts in there.

The more interesting is my 2nd quad kit — an older Joinmax JM-DOG-001. From Pololu.

Looks nice and hackable. Total body length is less than 25 cm and head is about 1/2 that — going to be a tight squeeze for any extra (modular) sonar or IR sensors. No, no cameras for me, yet.

The 2nd kit is a rather heavy Robo-11 from RobotShop(.CA, not .COM). (RobotShop.CA has one of the best laid-out web pages on robot hobby stuff I’ve yet come across. Even though it doesn’t have EVERY std kit, it has a reasonably large selection; you can even get a Pleo .

Robo-11 comes in at 2.5 kg+! It’s a tractor tread platform with a reasonable amount of patching area up top. 6800 controller, 32K SRAM, programmable in IC and (of course) assembler.

Hope the motors are up to it.
